I grew up with a father who had roots in Scotland. And he gave meaning the to term being Scotch, or frugal.<\/p>\n

He was always turning down the heat in the winter to 55 right after dinner. He drove… \"\"<\/a>in 5th gear around town, getting 30 miles per gallon even when gas only cost a dollar a gallon or less. And he rarely spent money on new clothes, his doctor\u2019s lab coat covered worn out shirts.<\/p>\n

But, show him a piece of antique furniture or an Audubon bird print, and his wallet would spring open and he\u2019d happily spend tens of thousands of dollars.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In business, a lot of people I run into think being cheap is a value, something to aspire to. But the truth is nobody that I know of got rich by being cheap, by being miserly.<\/p>\n

Yes Warren Buffet, last I heard drives the same pickup truck he\u2019s owned for the last 20+ years, but show him a company he think he can profit from, and he\u2019ll spend hundreds of millions of dollars.<\/p>\n

So how does this affect you?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you want to grow your business, ask yourself, is it a good idea to skip spending money on marketing and watch your sales stagnate, or should you be spending every penny you have on growing your business, so you can be rich as Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Mark Cuban or any of the hundreds of others who are truly successful.<\/p>\n
