Like the lioness who lays down after a successful hunt, rolls over on her back, and takes a long nap.

When the lioness is hungry she begins hunting for food again. And that’s what Shirley does. When she needs some business, she goes out and looks for it.

Because she doesn’t keep her pipeline full, she’s living a feast or famine existence.

Don’t let this happen to you. Look for new opportunities each and every day.

Keep your pipeline filled and you’ll eliminate the feast/famine syndrome.

Prospect, Prospect, Prospect
Keeping your pipeline filled is an end result. There’s something you need to have in order to do this: PROSPECTS.

Wear your prospecting cap all day long. You need to consistently add new prospects to your database and identify those who may be interested in purchasing your products or services.

You need to have a system of separating those prospects who are “really” interested from those that ask lots of questions, have you jump through hoops, but never buy.

There’s a difference between calling on a brand new lead – someone who you have never spoken to before; and someone you’ve been calling on for months, or years, but has never bought.

The new lead energizes you and keeps you on your toes. And when you’re calling on an older lead, come up with a new idea to talk about. Try to turn this ‘old’ call into a FRESH call.

Get On The Phone – Every Day!
To become a huge success, get on the phone every day. Set targets for yourself. How many people do you want to call each day.

Ten? 20? 30?

But this means getting on the phone EVERY DAY. It’s easy to get your calls in when you’ve a light schedule. But it’s harder to do when you’ve appointments scheduled for the entire day.

So schedule an appointment with yourself – and write it on your calendar – to get on the phone every day and make your calls.

For this to work, you must have a large list of prospects. You need to be calling different people each day. This isn’t going to work if you’ve only 30 leads and call the same 30 people on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Yes, you dialed the phone 150 times, but you called the same 30 people, five times each. A better way is to have 150 leads, and call each of them once.

The Secret Of Sales Success
Sales success is very easy when you get the simple things done. The challenge is to do those “simple” things exceptionally well.

Do the following and do them exceptionally well:
1. Find more prospects.
2. Get on the phone and schedule meetings with them.
3. Ask some great questions.
4. Find out what they want and need.
5. Deliver value and quality.

Keep your pipeline full, you’ll close lots of sales, and become a H-U-G-E success.

– Jeffrey

Reprinted with permission from “Jeffrey Mayer’s SucceedingInBusiness.com Newsletter.
