{"id":4727,"date":"2010-04-12T07:30:05","date_gmt":"2010-04-12T12:30:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/37d57f8fa2.nxcli.io\/blog\/?p=4727"},"modified":"2010-04-08T09:45:29","modified_gmt":"2010-04-08T14:45:29","slug":"perfect-sales-pitch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marketingforsuccess.com\/blog\/copywriting\/perfect-sales-pitch\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Create Your Perfect Sales Pitch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In my last article, I showed you how to find your ideal Unique Selling Proposition (USP).\u00a0 Now I\u2019m going to show you how to turn that USP into a killer sales pitch.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">First, write down your USP.\u00a0 Remember, the question you need to answer is \u201cWhat big, hairy, hard-to-fix problem of my customer\u2019s do I have the solution for?\u201d.\u00a0 And you need to answer it in a way that clearly communicates the benefit of doing business with you.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">For instance, \u201cYour Home Sold in 60 Days or Less Or I\u2019ll Buy It for Cash\u201d is a killer USP for a real estate agent.\u00a0 And yes, that\u2019s a real USP.\u00a0 In fact, it\u2019s used by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketingforsuccess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/sales-pitch.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-4729\" title=\"sales pitch\" src=\"https:\/\/www.marketingforsuccess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/sales-pitch.jpg\" alt=\"sales pitch\" width=\"150\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a>some of the most successful real estate agents in the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Think about it. If you needed to sell your home in a slow market\u2026and you got a postcard with that headline on it from a local Realtor\u2026wouldn\u2019t you have to call?\u00a0 Even if it\u2019s only to prove to yourself that it couldn\u2019t possibly be real?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>The Big Problem With Most \u201cCopywriting\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cCopywriting\u201d as the saying goes \u201cis salesmanship in print.\u201d Truer words were never spoken.\u00a0 But most copy doesn\u2019t read like a sales presentation.\u00a0 In fact, most\u00a0 copy fails to sell anything\u2026at all\u2026ever.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">That\u2019s because most copywriters\u2014especially copywriters who don\u2019t do direct response copy&#8211; are writers first, and salespeople second.\u00a0 They tell the prospect everything except what the prospect wants to know.\u00a0 And of course, all the prospect wants to know is \u201cwhat\u2019s in it for me?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Good copywriters don\u2019t \u201ctell\u201d the prospect anything.\u00a0 Good copywriting clearly shows the prospect\u00a0 <em>how <\/em>the product will make their life better.\u00a0 Good copywriting uses momentum and logic to induce the prospect to place an order.\u00a0 And good copywriting makes it easy for the prospect to justify their purchase.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">So how do you write that kind of copy?\u00a0 Well, it\u2019s always better to hire a professional (cough,cough), but you can also do it yourself\u2014as long as you know the secret to creating powerful, emotionally-driven copy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>The Secret to Creating a Powerful Sales Pitch<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">That secret is simple.\u00a0 First, write down every single benefit of your product or service.\u00a0 Not \u201cwhat it is\u201d\u2014that\u2019s a feature.\u00a0 Think about what your product <em>does<\/em> for the buyer.\u00a0 Create a list of \u00a0at least 20 \u201cBig Benefits\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Now pick the top 10 \u201cBig Benefits \u201cof your product or service and prioritize them.\u00a0 Your USP is your most powerful benefit, so it should be at the top of the list.\u00a0 Rank the rest of your Big Benefits in descending order.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>The Power of the \u201cPeak Emotional State\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Now comes the fun part.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Get yourself into \u00a0what Tony Robbins calls a \u201cpeak emotional state\u201d. \u00a0In other words\u2014get enthusiastic, excited, pumped up\u2026whatever you want to call it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Put on some music that really gets you moving.\u00a0 Read something inspirational.\u00a0 Do some push-ups if that\u2019s what works for you. In other words, do <em>whatever it takes<\/em> to get your blood pumping and your enthusiasm bubbling over.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Now \u00a0STOP. Sit down in front of your computer and close your eyes.\u00a0 Visualize yourself sitting across from your ideal\u2014but skeptical\u2014prospect.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Picture yourself totally confident and in total control of the situation.\u00a0 See yourself making your pitch perfectly and answering every objection effortlessly. And visualize your prospect handing over a check\u2014and becoming a customer for life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Now, open your eyes and write out the pitch you just gave to your imaginary prospect.\u00a0 Don\u2019t worry about spelling, grammar, or punctuation.\u00a0 You can fix all of that later. \u00a0Just worry about the sales pitch.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Dump your best ideas onto the paper.\u00a0 Imagine that you\u2019re sitting across from a prospect\u2014the most skeptical in the world\u2014and that you MUST close this deal.\u00a0 Throw every benefit you can think at Mr. Skeptical, and then more.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Explain why Mr. Skeptical why he should buy.\u00a0 Listen to his endless objections.\u00a0 Address them with clarity and enthusiasm. And then in some proof elements\u2014maybe a case study or statistic supporting your claims.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">When you\u2019re done writing down your imaginary sales pitch, you have the beginnings of a killer sales letter.\u00a0 You\u2019ve taken the 10 big benefits of your business\u2026explained them clearly\u2026answered any objections\u2026and closed the sale.\u00a0 That\u2019s \u201csalesmanship in print\u201d in action.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Next time, I\u2019ll show you how to refine your raw sales pitch into a polished and professional sales presentation.\u00a0 You\u2019ll learn how to answer the \u201cunspoken objection\u201d in your prospects mind.\u00a0 You\u2019ll learn how to create even more momentum and excitement in your copy.
