And you’d think any sane person would have decided to stay in and avoid the “bad” weather. But I was out skiing and had one of my best days ever – despite the sleet.

You see, I didn’t just head out for a few runs, but before I went out…I picked out 3 simple exercises to practice on the slope.

Then I spent the first hour of my morning over on the easy slopes, just working on the simple movements, which helped distract me from the pain of the little ice balls hitting my face.

Then, I headed over to the tougher runs, to ski bumps, and to duck into the woods where I like to ski, trying with every turn to continue to apply what I’d been practicing.

The result?

I skied the challenging terrain, faster, more in control and with a whole lot less effort than ever before. My skiing and the fun factor jumped a notch.

Now you may never have been on a pair of skis and have little desire to get involved in a sport that involves controlled falling. But how about your business…

Wouldn’t you like to attract more clients, more profits and see your business grow with a whole lot less effort?

The truth is you can!

You just need to do the following:

1. Set a Goal

My goal on the slopes is skiing perfection. And that doesn’t mean copying the average skier on the slope, it means being one of the top 5%. And I want to minimize my effort and maximize the results I get.

The same is true in my business which is why I’m regularly updating everything from my website to my business model.

How about you – what’s one short-term immediate goal you’d like to achieve with your business that would help you earn more and live more?

2. Get Advice

Find someone who is a proven expert and apply his or her ideas. If you ski, the worst thing you can do is copy what you see other skiers doing. It’s a bad idea, because most of the people who ski, while they’re having a great time, are working way too hard and don’t have the basics right.

The same is true in business. You could copy what you see your competitors doing, and get the same lousy results they get or, at best, get average results. And that’d be fine if all you want to be is average.

Personally, I find average boring. I want the best of everything, food, music, skis, business practices etc. And I want to be the best at whatever I do.

And in order to reach my goals, whether business or sports, I seek out the best advice I can get.

How about you?

Since you’re reading this I know you’re looking for advice, but the question is are you applying it?

3. Apply One Idea at A Time

Yesterday, I didn’t just watch a video of Lindsey Von or Body Miller or some other Olympic skier and tell myself I wanted to be like them. I picked one small definable skill to practice. And then I set aside time to apply it.

No one can revamp their marketing or their business model and make a million overnight. It’s just not possible. But you can pick one area to improve, each day or even each week.

Currently, I’m working on revitalizing my brand. First, I redid my marketing message. Then I added some new copy to my homepage. Next I’ll… (well, I can’t tell you but keep an eye on the homepage, and the coaching page.)

What are you working to improve in your business?

4. Don’t Be Deterred

As I mentioned earlier, I spent yesterday out skiing in the sleet, not because I love getting ice balls in the face, but because when I have a goal in mind, I’m not easily deterred by less than perfect weather.

Again, the same is true in business. Just because there’s bad news on the TV or some people are pinching pennies or Egypt is in a mess doesn’t mean you can’t improve your marketing, your business model, your profits and increase your revenue.

Mindful persistence is what it takes to be successful. Pick one area of your business to improve each day, and I guarantee you, you’ll sell more, profit more and get more out of life.

I know it works for me and it can work for you too.

To your success,

Charlie

P.S.
