After putting it off for months, I head in for surgery on my ACL, tomorrow, Saturday at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
I actually tore my ACL back in January but being the stubborn person that I am, I kept skiing until now.
And it’s true, if you’re bull-headed enough, no matter how bad the pain is you can keep going, like I did.
But is that a good idea?
Now I’m not going to say skiing 27 days with a torn ACL was the smartest thing to do. Actually the truth is I didn’t go to the doctor after I injured my leg because I didn’t even want to know how bad it was. Instead I waited until the end of ski season to find out.
Now I’m sure you’d never do anything as silly as that.
But that’s exactly what I see entrepreneurs and business owners doing all the time. Toughing it out with a broken marketing strategy, one that is crippling their business.
You may be saying to yourself, “Charlie you’re one to talk!”
And you’re right but, it took me three months to admit that I needed surgery but at least I finally faced up to the fact that it wasn’t “just a flesh wound” as Monty Python would say but it was keeping me from living my life and I’m headed in for surgery.
So wish me luck.
Charlie
