After hearing prospect after prospect complain about no business, we have decided to try some of your techniques. Educating ourselves on our customers’ businesses, including a survey to get a true understanding of their concerns and desires. Becoming the go to expert while building relationships.

Charlie:
The New Profit Rules is seriously awesome. I printed it out and read it over with a pen in hand. The margins are now covered in notes and I folded down corners. Most free e-books never make it to the printer, let alone my action plan.
Thank you for this terrific resource.
February 18th, 2010 at 9:04 am
Hi Charlie
This resource is fantastic!
The most helpful bits are the action points after each rule. It has really focused my mind on taking each step and making it work. I think I will try this with my clients and get them to take action.
The area I am focusing on is offering free samples / reports. I already offer a free sample, which if watched then people rave about our resources. The problem is if people don’t follow through and look at what I have sent. Therefore now I want to structure a follow up process encouraging clients to test the sample and train them on how it will benefit them.
Finally Charlie, I just want to say thank you for all the resources you provide they are great and I love receiving the thought provoking e-mails and ideas.

Charlie,
This is exactly what I needed to focus my plans for my new business. I need to print it out and go over it again a few times. I really appreciate the FREE report. I must look at your other resources too! Its great to have this resource so close by too! I live a few hundred yards from your office.

The NEW PROFIT RULES (ain’t that the truth) – I read it and found it absolutely spot on – whilst we might know some of the stuff, when it smacks you straight in the face – it’s time to sit up and take notice
That’s what this does – and for that matter everything else Charlie produces is bloody marvellous!

Charlie Cook’s latest special report, 8 Rules for Winning In This Economy, “hits the ball out of the park.” In this report Charlie discusses “smart stuff” when it comes to improving your business and moving ahead of your competition. You shouldn’t be surprised, this guy is sharp. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel just read and take action on his ideas.
One of the most powerful and underused marketing strategies is Joint Venturing. As a small business consultant, I have worked with many business owners who don’t think as clearly as they should when it comes to marketing their business. The Joint Venturing strategy is a tool that can give any business owner new insights and a powerful advantage. By using this one concept alone, he or she can literally take their company to a whole new level of marketing success.
February 18th, 2010 at 6:03 pm
I am a marketing and branding consultant and when I came to your point about slashing marketing budgets the comment didn’t encourage me to go much further. It is after all my source of income. Marketing is not the devil – nor is it only about sucking funds out of company through advertising. Far from it. There is much more involved not to mention ensuring brand relevance. Ideally Marketing and Sales work hand in hand not at the expense of each other. Same goes with PR which many companies are looking at as the silver bullet. Trouble is with PR- it only works if it’s newsworthy but PR which should be driven by marketing and brand are a powerful combination.
Ellen,
I’m sorry you didn’t read further. The point being that companies are slashing their marketing and advertising budgets is not my opinion or a judgement on your services but a fact – one that requires that business owners understand how to do more with less. My strategy is provide them with marketing ideas to help them cope with the current reality – not to deny it.

I found the New Profit Rules hits the mark. The tables have turned and customers are in the drivers seat. I am a big fan of permission marketing and behavioural targeting. Both address the need for relevancy as far as the prospect is concerned. I thought your advice was practical and actionable and encourages businesses to take a longer term view. If strategies like these are implemented they’ll survive the economic downturns and make their business more resilient.

I recently started a new venture. Marketing to me is totally new. I found the principles outlined extremely useful and will implement them with immediate effect.
February 27th, 2010 at 10:48 am
Charlie,
Thanks for giving me this free report and also the other materials you are sending to me. I can’t wait to recieve these. I really appreciate your expertise with small businesses. I just recently started an old school buisness along with a partner of mine who incidentaly was a client of mine 20 years ago. The funny thing is that he is Old School but has built his businesses using the rules and now I am coming in with the New School. We still use the old school approach because it was what we know well. However, with your information I am going to pull him into the new school of thinking as he is kicking and screaming. You have provided to me at least 5 tips we are going to implement in our business today. I can’t wait until we have our meeting later today to discuss all of these great suggestions. Looking forward to working with you closer in the near future. God Bless. PS. Do you tweet and can I would like to connect with you on FaceBook and Linked In. Thanks

This is the greatEST work I have EVER come across.
Why? It is NEW METHOD FOR NEW ECONOMY. Old methods peddled around by the many many other internet marketers “WORK”…. 10 years ago!!!!! Not anymore, but they keep peddling the same non-sense [makes no sense!]. Charlie Cook is a roll-up-the-sleeves and get into the real work of producing profits kind of guy. “This” is what I have been dreaming about after being overwhelmed and drowned in the many junk mail from all these other so-called internet gurus who make their money selling the shovel, not practicing making money independently like Charlie does for his clients. I love Mr. Cook and give him perhaps 6 stars out of 5stars if that is allowed. I recommend him with all my heart. I should know: I went from zero to hero, from jack to jack-pot! From nada to ‘nother $14,429 month after month, on average per month over the last few months. THANK YOU CHARLIE!

What I have found in the New Profit Rules changed my life.
This is perhaps the very best book on marketing I have ever read to date. I have been to so many multi-thousand dollar marketing courses, only to come out over-whelmed, and the truth is that I ended up doing nothing. If I were dumb then that is understandable but I have a PhD from our nation’s top university in computer engineering, so if anything, I should “get it”.
I had not until now: the New Profit rules changed everything for me. The “glass half empty” become “full”.
Charlie showed me that things are now different in this new economy – and most important he gives me the very important practical action steps. Charlie basically took my by the hand in this outstanding book – my bible – and walked me step-by-step up the enormous mountain.
I have *not* made millions, but that is not what Charlie promises. Recently , I have merely made $394,389 to date using his methods. I will reveal my secret now that Valentines Day is over. What do all people want to get for their loved one on Valentines? Figure this out, and help people get it to their lover on time – and you can make a mint. I did using the New Profit Rules.
The the hardest part of internet marketing: to believe and to begin. Secondly, as Charlie gives practical action steps: I developed momentum. The first week was the hardest, I worked day and night to make things work. I did not make a dollar. The second week was the same. It was by the fourth week, as Valentines Day was creeping up that I found my virtual cash-register almost topple over lop-sided with “ka-ching” noises. It was as Gloria sings “raining gold, Halleluyah”. But the key is not complexity, it is the simplicity: the practical actions steps in The New Profit Rules, followed by the entire university of material that Charlie gives. I thank him.

Hello Charlie, I’ve got my copy of New Profit Rules the very first day. I like your style. The stuff you sharing is excellent, although the rules are not so much new, you have to admit. After all the successful companies always had to remember that customer is in charge. True now more then ever, it’s just about the speed the bad and good news spreading all over the place. And these bad can be very damaging.
The other good thing is the positioning, position yourself as an expert, as a solution provider and spread the word.
Good stuff.
Rafal,
You’re right – nothing is new – just reconfigured and the new rules aren’t totally new but they’re the operative ones for this economy.
Thanks for your comments.
Charlie

Old Rules + New Media.
When the economy was roaring you didn’t have to work for business. There was more than enough to go around and when you provided an adequate product your business grew.
In this shrinking pie recession the client is boss again.
Having built a few small businesses to local market dominance using the Old Rules I know what works.
So why did I just buy one of Charlie Cook’s products?
He laser focuses on the relevant. What’s working now.
Charlie will get me back to the future. Hype-free and fast.
Master the basics, message with new media, master your market.
March 2nd, 2010 at 10:19 am
I have read the New Profit Rules twice now and I am going to read it again. There is so much good information for a business owner to utilize and I don’t want to miss anything that will help my business grow better.
I could write an essay on each rule and how important it is to helping grow your business. My personal favorites are rules #2 and #8, followed closely behind by #1 and #3, but don’t leave miss 4,5,6 or 7!!
This report is a quick read and more importantly, it contains case studies and action steps to help get you started to improving your business.
Read this report before your competition does – or you may just find yourself wondering where all of your customers went!
March 2nd, 2010 at 10:42 am
I know I can use Rule #3 — when I’m ready to hire someone to do admin and follow-up calls for me, your suggested greeting is brilliant. People will recognize my name and the fact they’ve already received something from me, instead of my company name. Good stuff there.
March 2nd, 2010 at 1:05 pm
THE NEW PROFIT RULES has helped me gain a clear picture for my business to locate more customers and increase my sales traffic with my current customers.
With the information that you GAVE ME FOR FREE, I have been able to define my target customer and my distinctive Personal Brand by learning my areas of expertise. I have also realized how best to focus on those high priority, profitable activities because your information has identified those things I have been doing that pull me away from my areas of specialization.
The information alone has helped to make my business a more profiting and more enjoyable. Once again, Thank you for THE NEW PROFIT RULES

The New Profit Rules is great. I’ve read it now many times and you’re right new rules are required to in today’s economy and Sales marketing is now very different.
I like how you put the difference between Old and New school marketing strategies. I’ve already told many of my friends from Sales Marketing to download it and read The New Profit Rules.

The new profit rules arrived after I ordered “Eliminating obstacles to Sales”. On Reading this I immediately ordered everything else I could from Charlies website. The new profit Rules was one of the add-on’s.
The new profit rules is certainly a great condensed version of a lot of Charlies works and goes straight to the point in getting across the values required to run a successful business. While reading this I actually came up with a concept for completely new business that as far as I can see it not yet operating in my part of the planet. So is the new profit rules “inspirational” it certainly was from my point of view.
What I got from The New Profit rules was Take Action and old school – new school of thought. All of us can read and we have imaginations so we can be inspired by the writings of Charlie Cook. However we don’t all seem to have the ability to Take Action and make it happen. The key for me is “Take Action” but only once you have been inspired and have an action plan.

Hi five folks – thanks Charlie this post just confirms there is no new fundamentals when it comes to doing business online – the way I see the web is we are bombarded with so much information then being wiser? we all try new ways to crack the markets we are going after – but every new year that come around its not getting any easier to gain the attention of the prospect as it was a few years ago – so its as you point out more and more important to stick to your 8 Rules For Winning In This Economy

Thank You for sharing. I would like to read more about how to get in contact with customers when you have a store selling a brand that other stores sell as well. I wish you and your loved ones all the best.
March 9th, 2010 at 7:27 pm
Another fantastic resource, possibly the best resource yet – With this fantastic information Charlie and you’ll turn this ‘recession’ on its head!
March 10th, 2010 at 2:01 pm
Lena,
Good question.
Remember it’s not the brands you sell that differentiate your store from others, it’s your customers and prospects perception of your expertise.
Let’s say there were two stores in your town that sold running sneakers and one regularly sent out tips on how to avoid injuries, and ran clinics on improving your running or free messages and the other store didn’t – which store would you go to? The one that you perceived as having your interests at heart, the one that was run by running enthusiasts.

I live in Spain and I’m trying to build a website based on two guidebooks I’ve written. I’m in that lost and confused stage where I don’t know who will help me or how I will get going. I came across your ebook saved on my system – I’ve no idea when I downloaded it! – and read it straight through. It is a fascinating read, full of excellent ideas and information. At the moment I’m not sure how I can use the info because I don’t even have and customers yet, but it has provided me with a wonderful basis to think about as I continue with my project
Thanks very much

The New Profit Rules was probably the best and most USEFUL marketing information I have read yet since becoming a new business owner 8 months ago. I have accepted the challenge in this article of “doing something” within 24 hrs of reading. I plan to implement a new marketing idea on my website today! Thanks!

Thank you Charlie for sharing this valuable ” I get it now ” information with me for FREE. Hear only good things about you from my friends.
This is priceless information!
You see, the toughest part for me, was loosing everything, a business of 30 years, my credit, my income, all my assets to bankruptcy recently. Point being is you shared this valuable information with me for free, otherwise I would not have been able to afford it right now. So thank you mighty.
Ill learn from my mistakes, change course fast and will apply this awesome useful information. When back in the game, I can’t wait to read all your other articles, books and become a member. For now, I’ll keep telling my friends about you.
Thank You Charlie Cook!
