How Alan Got 217 Prospects In The Door Last Month

Author: Charlie Cook   |   June 12th, 2012

How can you get more clients?

Here’s the secret formula Alan used to get 217 exercise enthusiasts into his fitness studio in Seattle to try their unique program.

This past December I got a call from… A Gym brings in 217 new leads with these small business marketing changesAlan, who owns a gym, I mean fitness studio in Seattle, Washington. It’s a place that offers low impact exercise that gets outstanding results for everyone from people who just want to look better to serious athletes.

Alan had opened the fitness studio a few months prior and was frustrated with his numbers. To move into the profit zone, he needed to build awareness and get more people in the doors to try their approach to fitness.

Alan knew his website wasn’t working to bring in new members and asked our team to take a look.

The problem?

His site was missing some key elements, the key copy and design elements needed to capture the interest of his target market and get them to call or contact his staff.

Like 98% of small business sites, the website design missed the boat. It wasn’t built to generate leads and in turn was hurting his business.

The solution?

First we met with Alan and his team to clarify their brand identity, come up with a marketing message that reflected their unique focus, and a headline that defined who they were or, in this case, who they weren’t.

Then we worked with Alan to come up with an offer, one that would get people in the door so they could get to know, like and trust the staff at the LAB5 Fitness studio. (Once people were in the door that was the easy part!)

And, then, only once we had the action sequence mapped out – the steps we wanted prospects to take on the website – did we go to our web designer. Our designer, using the visual hierarchy of the site, came up with a simple design to reinforce the action sequence, the steps we wanted prospects to take to generate a lead.

(Take a look at the before and after images below to see the difference.)

Before

After

This may sound pretty simple – but the truth is hardly any web designers actually do the upfront work to clarify your brand, your message, your marketing sequence or work with a top level copywriter to ensure your success.

The difference?

Last month, LAB5 Fitness had 217 people sign up for their free class, which is incredible!

Imagine if next month you had 217 people eager to try out your services, show up at your door. How much more money you could make?

Which is potentially what could happen, if you did what Alan did, and fixed your website and your selling system.

To your success,

P.S. I’m sure you know that the first step in marketing is to get attention, the next is to get prospects to contact you and the third is to do what Alan and his staff are doing an amazing job at, helping prospects get to know you, like you and trust you. That’s what the free class does.

But what comes next?

You need to get a commitment, to close the deal – which is exactly what we’ve also been working with Alan to do – to generate qualified leads, get more referrals, put proven sales processes in place to increase revenue.

P.S. Secret formula?

Of course the steps we took to help Alan aren’t secret but the truth is they might as well be for small business owners. Our team brings big business talent, branding, copywriting, and design to small service businesses – with outstanding results. Did I mention 217 qualified prospects last month alone for LAB 5Fitness?
