Keep TABs On Your Success

Author: Michael Angier   |   July 6th, 2010

It happens to all of us from time to time. We find ourselves falling short. Something’s off. We aren’t making as much progress as we think we should—and as we used to do.

New strategies and tactics that were promised to work simply don’t. Sometimes we chase off after bright and shiny objects (BSO Syndrome).

And all too often we forget about the things that served us so well.

We stop doing the tried and proven. And we don’t even realize it.small business success tips

When that happens—just like an athlete—we have to get back to the basics. We need to get back to what worked. If the fundamentals worked before, they will work again because they are not dependent on circumstances or changing times.

But what ARE the basics? What can we count on?

Our results are based upon our actions. Our actions come largely from our feelings. Our feelings are driven by our thoughts. And our thoughts are determined by our beliefs and attitudes.

So beliefs and attitudes create our thoughts, thoughts create feelings and feelings cause us to take action—or to take no action.

Most people try to change their actions with more discipline and greater effort. And that may work—for awhile at least.

What’s easier is to examine and reinforce or alter our beliefs, our attitudes and our thought processes to bring about the changes we desire.

So what are your TABs—your Thoughts, Attitudes & Beliefs? Are they serving you as well as you would like?

We have to program our minds or they will be programmed by others and by our interpretation of events that occur.

What are you thinking about?

What are you listening to?

Who are you hanging out with?

What are you saying to yourself?

Read something positive every day. Listen to something supportive every day. Affirm and visualize what you want. Otherwise, you will—by default—be affirming and visualizing what you DON’T want.

The basics aren’t hard. But because they’re not hard, they’re also easy NOT to do.

Taking charge of your mind is critical to your success.

It may very well be time for you to take a good, hard, honest look at what you might be doing—and not doing—to affect your TABs.
