I’m A Twitter Expert – Right!

This past week I’ve been interviewing the top experts in Social Media, the people who wrote the book on using Facebook, LinkedIn, Video, Blogging and Twitter. And in an effort to find an expert on Twitter I thought what better way than to use Twitter itself.

Whoops!

When I used www.search.twitter.com to look for a “Twitter Expert”, almost every person I found who listed the secret to using Twitter or How to Make $10,000 in 10 days on Twitter, etc  had only a handful of Twitter followers or in other words they had no audience and no one was listening to their tweets.

That’s like saying because you own a computer you’re a computer expert or because you’ve registered for a bank account you’re an expert in banking.

Now I don’t know about you but if I’m looking for an expert they better be able to demonstrate they know what they are talking about. If they say their good at SEO, then their site should be at the top of Google. If they say they can make pizza, then their pizza should taste great. If they say they can sell online, they they better be able to show they’ve done it.

And if they say they’re an expert on Twitter, then they should have more followers than I do (around 1,700) – given that I don’t know anything about how to use Twitter. I’ll admit I have no clue on how to use Twitter which is why I’ve been looking for an expert to interview who can explain it to you.

After a couple hours online I did find a handful of top Twitter experts (using another even more powerful social media tool) whose ideas I’ll be sharing with you in a few weeks, but in the meantime – take a look a the following funny video on Redneck Twitter Tips and let me know your thoughts.
