How to Profit from Email Marketing

What’s the fastest way to reach a huge audience for free so that you can grow your business…this month?

The simple answer may surprise you.

A few months ago, I decided to switch up my workout routine…Email Marketing Tips For Your Small BusinessOkay, by switch up, I mean start. But, that’s a switch from not doing much, right?

Anyway, in my quest to create the best workout in minimal time, I must have looked at 50 different websites that focused on exercise routines ranging from strength training to cardio, and everything in between. I subscribed to a handful of them, anxious to have motivation and proper workout strategy delivered conveniently to my email inbox.

Their emails come on a daily basis, yet I usually only read one or two of them. Three on a good day. Why?

Like you, and those on your email lists, I get busy. And, because my time is limited I only read the articles that arouse my interest. If I don’t think I’ll get some immediate benefit, either educational or entertainment, the email goes to my trash, contents forever unknown.

Could your subscribers be overlooking your emails because you haven’t spurred their interest, created a burning desire to open your emails now? If so, there are some changes you can make today that will net you results tomorrow.

Here’s what you need to know to create emails that build profits:

The “Subject” lines need to arouse curiosity. Take a look at the subject lines of the emails currently in your inbox. Are there any that make you say, “Hmm? I wonder what that is about?” If you spark curiosity in your reader, you greatly increase the likelihood that they will open the email.

The lead sentence needs to engage them. Now that you’ve aroused their curiosity with the subject line, you need to hook your reader with the first sentence and make them want to read the rest of the email. If you can’t gain their attention immediately, they won’t take the time to read all of the great content you have to share.

Continue to engage by telling a story. You’ve hooked them, now you have to keep their attention. Tell a story that creates a problem and a perception of need. For instance, if you’re an eye doctor, your story may involve a person that has a hard time seeing and how their life was dramatically improved by getting eye glasses.

Provide social proof. People like to hear stories of others that you’ve helped. It adds to your credibility. So, you want to provide case studies or testimonials about how great your product or service is. People believe other people who have nothing to gain by telling their story easier than they will believe you.

Always provide your reader a call to action. After you’ve given them information and provided them some value, tell them what you want them to do. If you have numerous email subscriptions, offer the option to subscribe to more. If you want them to buy a product, take them to the site where they can place their order. If you don’t tell them what to do, they will likely do nothing.

Set a schedule and stick to it. Send out emails on the same day at the same time. If your customer goes to their email inbox looking for you because you are usually there Monday mornings around 9:00 AM and you’re not there, they begin to not trust you. If they don’t trust you, they won’t do business with you.

Format your emails the same. Use the same presentation, the same basic design. There is comfort in things that are familiar. It’s like going on a business trip and always staying at the same hotel chain. Although you are in a different location, the room layouts are the same and they offer the same amenities so you feel comfortable, at ease.

Follow these simple steps and you will see immediate results.
