Charlie Cook's MArketing for Success Insider's Club

Am I a liar? Are you delusional? Or…

Author: Charlie Cook   |   April 29th, 2011

This past week I sent out an email titled “How to make $ 27,000 with social media the first week…” and one person wrote in to complain about the email.

He said: “Charlie, your promotions usually stand out — but I’m afraid the hype is hurting you. You are targeting very delusional individuals. Perhaps if you lowered the amount to something credible you’d wind up getting more business. – John”

Here’s what I told John…

The #1 problem most small business owners have is their own perceptions of what’s possible.

The $27,000 headline is based on a real client I worked with – a savvy woman, who took action and applied the LinkedIn strategy I shared with her and made a $27,000 sale the first week she tried it.  Of course, how much you make depends on your business and the value of a client. You could make less or even more if you take action like she did to apply the ideas you’ll find detailed in Social Media 2.0.

But, the sad truth is that most people avoid taking action and making it big because they tell themselves the same lie. They tell themselves it’s not possible. When instead they could be tapping social media marketing to sell more, profit more and work less.

And John’s response:

“Please accept my apologies. I didn’t know it was an actual figure and assumed you had made it up for publicity purposes.
Thank you very much for pointing out what my own #1 problem is, namely my own perception of what’s possible. It is indeed.
Thanks once again for the lesson, Charlie.”?How about you?

Is your perception of what’s possible holding you back, too?

If you’re setting small goals for yourself, you’ll plan for and get small results. If you set big goals then you’ll create a plan for getting big results.

So go ahead and let me know. Fire away. Tell me what’s holding you back.

To your success,

P.P.S. Originally the above was sent out as an email, and here’s the response I got back from one subscriber:

“Charlie, just wanted to let you know I landed a $16,500 contract via LinkedIn a couple months ago and I’m sure the lifetime value of this client will exceed $100,000.

Social media marketing works if you take the time to follow the steps outlined in your Social Media 2.0 program.” – Kris Simmons, 6 Strong Media
